GRANITI MURALES
Graniti is a city in the province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily with 1700 inhabitants. The town was founded by the Arabs.
Just some km from the seaside, Taormina and Giardini Naxos and close to the Alcantara Gorge is Graniti on a mountainside – below a manicured pine forest.
Short description of program:
The project management is offering residencies to national and international artists in Graniti. In order to create their individual work on facades, walls, etc. of houses in this Sicilian town. Works will remain for a number of month – but at least for 6 month.
All works are summarized beyond the name “Graniti Murales” and can be visited also during construction process. The organization also helps with tools, working materials, introductions, publicity in the media and internet and documents your residence and your project on its website:

The organization is allowed to use all documentation materials such as photos, biographies, etc. to promote the project for marketing. It goes without saying that artists are expected to leave the work on its place for the Project in Graiti.
The international Residency-Program aims to renew Graniti as a place for art based on its history and its own artists (Mazzullo, ….)
– artists also work for his/her own
– artists create one piece of work (Murales) for the project – for the described use
– artists are free to develop own ideas during their stay
– creation of an artistic environment for artists and visitors
Guest artists with work in different medias are offered to live for a certain period in Graniti and work for themselves and the project. The design of a facade as an artistical statement which will be visited during the process of formation and specially when it is finished – as a summary and location determination.

Duration of residencies:
During the month March, April, May, June, October, November, December and January artists can feel free to apply for this residential program any time. Private accommodations are available to host the artists in town. Stay period starts with 2 weeks and can be expanded up to several month – depending on the application description.

Grants:
The organization contributes the “Artist Call” and creates a collection of possible locations for which artists can send a proposal.
The Committee would like to thank innovative and creative ideas. After the test for feasibility, candidates will receive will a replay within 4 weeks.
Once agreed by the selection Committee all required materials are procured:
– artists will be selected in order to get a free stay
– other artists can be selected in order to get less expensive stay (this also applies if the stay lasts longer than the program)
Allowance granted to artists:
The project is in its beginning and not in the position to support your traveling expenses or give you pocet money. We will support you where we can when you apply for traveling grants elsewhere.

Selection procedure:
Successful applications will be determined by Committee which is formed by the founders.
The decision will be announced within 4 weeks after receipt the application.
Presentation of artists\’ work:
After leaving the work (Murales) the manufacturer remains recognizable for a certain period.
