Fire Station Artists’ Studios offers living and working spaces for visual artists, as well as workshop and computer facilities.
Open Call for Short-term and Long-term Studio Residencies commencing in 2015
Deadline for applications: Thursday 15 May 2015, 1pm
Applications are accepted via our online system
Your application should include:
- A covering letter
- A current CV (3 pages max) and documentation of your work (Jpeg images and web showreels)
- Residency work plan
- Artist statement
- An image list
A selection committee then reviews your application and makes recommendations to our board. The selection committee bases its decision solely on what you provide.
Short-term (international) residencies
Artists living outside of Ireland may apply for short-term (1 – 3 months) residencies. A clear and developed rationale for applying for a residency in Ireland must be included in your application e.g. an exhibition or commission opportunity in Ireland; links made with Irish curators, galleries or other artists in Ireland. This should be detailed in the cover letter of your application (see below).
The Covering Letter
Tell us, in detail, how you hope to use the studio, e.g. to work on a commission, to prepare for an exhibition. Tell us why you need residential space specifically.
Include a work plan, giving details of what materials and processes you use and any other requirements you have, such as wheelchair access. This will help us provide you with the most suitable space.
Tell us for how long you will need your studio. We let out studios for between 1 year and 2 years, 9 months. If you need a studio for more than one year, we will review your progress after your first year.
The CV and Documentation
Send us an up-to-date CV (3 pages max) with documentation and any of the following:
- Up to six still images (Jpeg files only which must be less than 1MB each)
- Video showreel: web address (e.g. YouTube or Vimeo) of up to 6 minutes of footage.
