ICA Incentive Award for Young Art Critics (Deadline: 23rd August 2019)

AICA Incentive Award for Young Art Critics recognizes emerging voices in art criticism around the world. In 2019, the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) and its Awards Committee, with the support of the AICA German section, launches the seventh edition of AICA Incentive Award for Young Art Critics. AICA invites young art critics from all over the globe to submit an article or a review on a subject (an exhibition, a biennale, a profile of an artist etc.) related to the theme of the congress: Art Criticism in Times of Nationalism and Populism.

Criteria

• Critics have to be 35 years old or younger on August, 23rd. 2019. The award is open to AICA members and non-members.

• The text (up to 2.500 words) must be written in English. The author can send an additional copy in his/her native language, if wanted.

AICA will this year be celebrating the 70th anniversary of its foundation under the auspices of UNESCO, in 1948-49.  To mark the occasion, we have decided to launch a call for contributions from all parts of the world to a new on-line publication of AICA’s little-known local or regional histories. These hidden histories, from past and existing Sections, are intended to fill a gap left by the official accounts AICA’s international activities, so far.

We seek fresh accounts of activities in the National Sections, which may not have come to the attention of a wider audience, but which stand out for their quality, interest or historical significance. They may be short accounts of 1.000-1,500 words of an individual event or achievement; or they may provide a more extensive commentary of 3,000-4,000 words on the history of a Section, or a significant episode in that history, such as an international Congress or outstanding achievement of an individual member within a wider social and intellectual context. All submissions will ideally combine an element of critical reflection with straightforward historical narrative, in order to bring out the wider significance of the Association’s activities.

Submissions may be in any of the Association’s three working languages (English, French, Spanish) and will be published in that language. Submissions with labelled photographs and filmed or video’d material, with or without accompanying commentary, will also be warmly welcomed. All contributions will be selected by a small group of colleagues, drawn from the membership of the Publications and Languages Committee and of the Archives and Living Memory Committee, and should go, initially, to one of the two editors, below, by a deadline of 15 July 2019:

Receipt of all submissions will be acknowledged. The editors may exercise their right to omit, cut or otherwise alter submissions, though only after duly consulting the authors.

Hakkında KolajART

KolajART, çağdaş sanatın güncel üretimlerini, eleştirel düşünceyi ve sanat yazarlığını bir araya getiren bağımsız bir uluslararası çevrim içi sanat platformudur. Dergi, 2013 yılının Kasım ayında DekolajART adıyla kurulmuş, ancak bir takım yaşanan sorunlar nedeniyle 2014 yılının Ocak ayından itibaren KolajART adıyla yayın hayatını sürdürmeye başlamıştır. Türkiye'nin ilk plastik sanatlar odaklı çevrim içi dergilerinden biri olan KolajART, dijital ortamda sanat yazarlığı ve eleştirisinin gelişimine katkı sunan öncü yayınlardan biridir. Kuruluşundan bu yana yalnızca yerel bir sanat ortamının sesi olmakla yetinmeyip, sınırları aşan bir bakış açısıyla hareket eden dergi, farklı coğrafyalardan sanatçıların, küratörlerin ve düşünürlerin katkılarına açık bir yayın politikası benimsemiştir. Bu yönüyle KolajART, Türkiye merkezli olmakla birlikte, içerik ve ilgi alanı bakımından ulusal sınırların ötesine uzanan, çok dilli ve çok kültürlü bir okur-yazar kitlesine hitap eden bir mecra hâline gelmiştir. Bağımsız ve kâr amacı gütmeyen bir web yayını olarak KolajART; sergi değerlendirmeleri, sanatçı söyleşileri, kuramsal incelemeler ve sanat tarihi perspektifinden yorumlarla Türkiye'de ve dünyada çağdaş sanat ortamına eleştirel ve düşünsel bir katkı sunmayı amaçlar. Dergi, yalnızca İstanbul, Ankara ya da İzmir gibi Türkiye'nin sanat merkezlerinde gerçekleşen etkinlikleri değil; Berlin, Paris, Vietnam, New York ve Palermo gibi uluslararası sanat sahnesinin nabzının attığı şehirlerdeki bienaller, sergiler ve sanat fuarlarını da takip ederek, okurlarına küresel çapta bir sanat gündemi sunmaktadır. Farklı kuşaklardan sanatçıları, araştırmacıları ve sanat yazarlarını —yerli ve yabancı fark etmeksizin— ortak bir tartışma zemininde buluşturan dergi, güncel sanatın eleştirel hafızasını oluşturmaya yönelik süreklilik taşıyan önemli bir dijital arşiv ve paylaşım alanı niteliği taşır. Bu bağlamda KolajART, yalnızca bir yayın organı olmanın ötesinde, Türkiye ile dünya sanat çevreleri arasında bir köprü işlevi gören, disiplinlerarası ve sınır ötesi bir düşünce platformu olarak konumlanmaktadır.
