THIRD INTERNATIONAL STUDENT BIENNIAL DRAWING – SOFIA – 2016
REGULATIONS
The International Student Biennial Drawing–Sofia – 2016– is organized for the thirdtime in Bulgaria by the National Academy of Art – Sofia, which is the oldest higher school for education in artsin our country,founded in 1896.
The organizers aim atpresentingDrawing with its trends and achievements attained in the different higher schools of art as well asat promoting drawing as an independent form of expression.
Participation:
Participants in Drawing – Sofia – 2016are Higher Schools for Education in Art, with which the National Academy of Art has active partnership.
Exhibition sections:
The Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) – participants in the Biennialmaysubmit their works in two sections: study drawing linkedwith the educational process employed by the HEI and free drawing as an autonomous area for interpretations.
Rules and regulation for participation:
Institutionallyproposed artists may participate in both sections. Workshave to be created between 2014 – 2016 with all techniques and combinations which include the following media – charcoal, pencil, ink, pastel, chalk, etc. or mixed media except for digital orany other kind of printing. Works should be realized on paper.The size of exposition format should be not less than 50/70 cm and not bigger than 150/120 cm. In case of the maximum size (150x120cm), the work should bepresented/exhibited in vertical position.
Requirements to the participating Higher Schools of Art:
Each Academy or FacultiesofArt atUniversities will displaytheir own collectionwhich is to be preliminary selectedat their premises by a juryhaving in mind that the available exhibition space at disposal of each participant shouldnot exceed more than 12 m2.
If the exhibition works exceed this area, the Organizer has the right to reduce it to 12m2.
Entry formswith images of the participants’ works which have to contain author’s name, title of the work, technique and size, resolution 300 dpi and size 250 mm of the long side in accordance with the enclosedentry form are to be submitted electronically from

Deadline for receipt of original works at the National Academy of Art, Sofia, 1, Shipka
St., from 10 May – 30 May 2016.
Works are accepted without frame.
The participants (Universities/Academies of Arts) have to send the works by post. They have to be put in tubus(tube pack)and without insurance. The weight has to be no more than 7 kg. “Printed Matter” (No commercial value) has to be written on the tubes.
All expenses for packing and transportation are on account of the participants.
Organizers are exempted from any liability for injury and damage of the worksduring their transportation before and after the exhibition.
Jury for thePrize-winning authors:
Prize-winning authors will be appointed by international jury proposed by the organizersand assigned by the Rector of the National Academy of Art.
Prizes:
Prize ofthe National Academy of Art – 1000 BulgarianLevs equal to 500 Euro
Four equalprizes of the Biennial –each of 800 Bulgarian Levsequal to 400 Euro
Four stimulating prizes of the Biennial – each of 500 Bulgarian Levs equal to 250 Euro
Prize ofthe Union of Bulgarian Artists –Graphic work by famous Bulgarian artist.
The prizedworks of art will become property of the Museum at the National Academy of Art.
The jury reservesits right to make changes in the prize fund.
The National Academy of Art reservesits right to photograph and reproduce works participating in the Biennial for non-commercial purposes.
The exhibition will be displayed at Academia Gallery of the National Academy of Art, during September – October 2016.
Catalogue of the Biennial will be published.

September 2016- Announcement of Awards
September -October 2016 – Display of the Biennale exhibition atAcademia Gallery of National Academy of Art
Return of works:
The works which have not been awardeda prize or stimulating prize will be returned withintwo months after the closing of the exhibition.
