CerModern – Hub Sanat Mekan
CerModern’in bünyesinde bu yıl faaliyete geçen yeni güncel sanat alanı HUB Sanat Mekan Şubat ayında, kullandığı endüstriyel malzemeleri minimalist bir tavırla yorumlayan sanatçı Can Ertaş’ı konuk ediyor.
2013 yılında Paris’in en dinamik sanatçı inisiyatifi PlateformeParis’deLudovicB
Can Ertaş, “Hareket konumda olan değişikliktir.

Linear Movement
13 February – 9 March 2014
CerModern – HHUB Art Space by Cer Modern
HUB Art Space which have begun to operate this year within CerModern, is receiving Can Ertaş who is interpreting with a minimalist manner industrial materials used in February.
Works of Can Ertaş who has stood out with Rank 1+1 project performed with Ludovic Bernhartd in Plateforme Paris which is the most dynamic art initiative of Paris in 2013, in which he has examined “movement” notion will be able to be seen between 13 February and 9 March in HUB Art Place with personal exhibition of him, Linear Movement which will meet with audiences from the capital city for the first time.
Can Ertaş, “Movement is a change in position. If an object is changing its position according to a point perceived as motionless, this means that this object is moving. As for linear movement, it is possible when the movement is taking place on a vector.
These vectors and lines are building blocks of geometry. With intersection of a couple of lines under certain circumstances, shapes such as a quadrant, trapezoid or triangle are constituted, and together with these geometric shapes, three dimensional forms are constituted. However in the nature there isn’t a identical response for them, only we assume some objects as if they are so, as presumption. It is just like perceiving that a football ball is a sphere, a match box is a rectangular prism. Because it’s shape is mostly look like a sphere or prism. This is a necessary method which as well as a convenience provided us by our sensation and is required to establish universal mutual grounds. Starting with the habits of sensation, what are responses of geometric forms in plastic arts area? The origin of painting or sculpture and generally all plastic arts starts with studying the nature. This is an easily understood situation and for example the word of “painting” completely needs a reference. The topic might be various objects arranged for a model or still-life or a landscape. However the method is same even the topic changes. The artist more over transfers the information obtained via his observation, Even the told topic changes, it presents the form told by transforming from the world of assets which are formed differently. These forms are also images of this world with help of said basic shapes. Even when we have a look at descriptions of god, we face up with images similar to human or not far from humanity.
We are about to meet with a range of questions; How it could be possible to move away from the nature in the production of art? What kind of a formal area is there beyond the world of asset? What kind of forms could be named as abstract?
Notwithstanding finding an answer is difficult, I might talk about some clues.
For instance geometry; Euclidean geometric forms were really helpful in creation of my works. Even these forms are known forms such as square, cube, impeccabilities their inside have indeed the accuracy which will never exist. For instance square; The definition of the square is so much certain that it may solely exist by definition. When you try to cut a square from a paper, it will not be possible to get the accuracy mentioned in its definition, even you use the most precise tools. These basic shapes which can only be exist in computer or in definition in reality, are helping me to create my works however nevertheless my production is being performed by means of computer or machines controlled by computers, there are so much differences with the mentioned one that it is not possible to catch up with. At this point, our sensation starts to operate and provides a match between the thing seen and information from our memory which has been recorded before and equalizes it just as with the form mentioned in the definition. This impossibility is participating my way of production directly and even is not letting another option for me.
Beside, notwithstanding industrial manufacturing techniques are providing the closest result for the impeccability aimed to be reached, it resulted the disappear of handcraft factor of the artist which is not possible to be avoided.
As a result, trying to rescue from the effects of the nature resulted also change of manufacturing techniques directly. The emergent result shows changes not only in stylistic aspect but also regarding the technique naturally required by itself.
The existence of forms created by computers with help of machines without needing the implementation skills of the artist who is the subject might answer questions encountered just before to some extent.”
