Félix-Antoine Morin’in Türkiye’deki ilk kişisel sergisi ‘’Asemic Sound Mappings’’ Melis Bektaş’ın küratörlüğünde Karşı Sanat Çalışmaları’nda açılıyor. Félix-Antoine Morin’in çalışmaları grafik notasyona benzer ve çalışmaların temel yapıları sanatçının beste repertuarından alınan mevcut müzikal formları tasvir eder; genellikle farklı mimarilerden ve çeşitli ses manzaralarının eşsiz hareketinden ilham alır.
Asemik “belirli bir anlam içeriği olmayan” veya “en küçük anlam birimi olmayan” demektir. Asemik yazıda okuyucunun doldurması ve yorumlaması için bırakılan bir anlam boşluğu ortaya çıkar. Asemik okumasoyut bir sanat eserinden anlam çıkarma yöntemine benzetilebilir.
Sanatçının grafik dili sabit bir anlama sahip olma eğiliminde değildir, eserlerin yorumlanmasında izleyiciyi serbest bırakır, müzik notasyonu ile saf resimsel şiir arasındaki belirsizlik teşvik edicidir. “Asemic Sound Mappings” başlıklı sergi Morin’in müzikal ve resimsel duyarlılıklarını aynı anda ifade ederek, boşlukta hareket eden, ritmi yüzeye taşıyan katmanlı resimlere yer veriyor.
Sergide sanatçının farklı tekniklerle çalıştığı resimler ve bir ses yerleştirmesi yer alacak. Sergi 11 Şubat’ta sanatçının canlı performansıyla açılacak.

Félix-Antoine Morin araç olarak müziği ve görüntüyü kuırken şiirsel bir icrayla yaklaşımını şekillendirir. Gerçekliği, kurgu ve soyutlamayla farklı algı alışkanlıkları yaratacak görsel ve sessel imgelere dönüştürür. Araştırma alanı; elektro akustik müzik kompozisyonu, video sanatı, grafik notasyon, fotoğrafçılık, enstalasyon ve yeni medya dahil olmak üzere çok çeşitli ortamları kapsar.
Félix-Antoine Morin, UQAM’da görsel sanatlar ve Montreal Konservatuarı’nda elektro akustik kompozisyon okudu. 2008’de JTTP ödülünü kazandı ve 2012’de Kanada Sanat Konseyi’nden Joseph S. Stauffer ödülünü aldı. Eserleri birçok ulusal ve uluslararası etkinlikte yer aldı. Ayrıca Kohlenstoff Records’un kurucu üyesidir.

Felix-Antoine Morin’s first solo exhibition in Turkey, “Asemic Sound Mappings”, opens at Karşı Sanat Çalışmaları curated by Melis Bektas. The artist’s work, akin to graphic notation, depicts existing musical forms whose basic structures are drawn from his repertoire of compositions – often inspired by diverse architecture and the unique movement of varied soundscapes.
Asemic means “ without a specific meaning content” or “ without the smallest unit of meaning”. In Asemic writing, a void of meaning arises that is left for the reader to fill and interpret. Asemic reading can be likened to the method of extracting meaning from an abstract work of art.
The graphic language of the artist does not tend to have a fixed meaning, leaving the interpretation of the works free to the viewer, encouraging the ambiguity between musical notation and pure pictorial poetry. The artworks at the “Asemic Sound Mappings” exhibition display layered elements moving in the void, carrying rhythm to the surface by simultaneously expressing Morin’s musical and pictorial sensibilities.
The exhibition will include paintings featuring varied techniques and will be accompanied by a soundtrack of the artist’s creation. It opens on February 11th with a live performance by the artist.

Whether using the medium of music or image, the overall approach of Félix-Antoine Morin’s work is guided by the aesthetic principle of a poetic execution. Transfiguring reality by shifting it into fiction and abstraction, his creations develop a lyric quality as they pass through multiple stages of writing, transforming, and mutating reality into new, perceptual, visual and sonic imagery. His area of exploration encompasses a wide range of mediums, including electroacoustic music composition, video art, graphic scores, photography, immersive installations, and new media.
Félix-Antoine Morin studied visual arts at UQAM and electroacoustic composition at the Conservatory of Montreal. In 2008, he won a JTTP award and in 2012, he received the Joseph S. Stauffer award from the Canada Council for the Arts. His works have been featured in several national and international events. He is also a founding member of the Kohlenstoff Records label.
